Voting by Mail

Pennsylvania voters do not need to provide a reason or excuse to vote with a mail-in ballot. The county must receive your application for a mail-in ballot by 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday before the election.

There are three different ways to apply for a ballot, follow these instructions:

Online

Step 1: Click here to be taken to the Pennsylvania Voter Services ballot application portal

Step 2: Have your driver's license and social security number with you when filling out your form. Students attending college will fill out section A of the form.

Step 3: Fill in the required forms which will include: Name, phone number, email, birthdate, PENDOT ID number, and mailing address.

NOTE: If you do not have a valid Pennsylvania’s drivers license you will not be able to register for a Mail-In Ballot on-line. You can still apply via mail or in person, with a valid photo ID and the last four digits of your SSN.

Step 4: You will receive your ballot in the mail several weeks before the election. Complete your ballot and return it to the Bucks County Board of Elections, giving yourself plenty of time before the deadline.

By Mail

Step 2: Mail your completed absentee ballot request form to the Bucks County Board of Elections at 55 East Court St Doylestown, PA 18901.

Step 3: You will receive your ballot in the mail several weeks before the election. Complete your ballot and return it to the Bucks County Board of Elections, giving yourself plenty of time before the deadline.

In Person

You can receive and deliver your mail-in ballot application at the Bucks County Board of Board of Elections. Go to 55 E. Court St. Doylestown, PA 18901. You can contact them at (215) 348-6154.

Q: Is there a deadline to request an absentee or mail-in ballot?

A: Yes, the deadline to apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot is for the 2022 general election is November 1, 2022 at 5 PM. You can apply for yours here.

Missed the deadline? If you have an emergency (such as an unexpected illness or disability and last-minute absence) you may still be able to get a ballot after the deadline. Find information about how to get an  emergency absentee ballot  at the end of this page. 

Q: Is there a deadline to return my voted mail ballot?

A: Yes, the deadline to return your voted mail-in or absentee ballot for the general election is November 8, 2022. All mail and civilian absentee ballots must be received by the Board of Elections by November 8 at 8:00 p.m.

If you are unable to return your ballot by the deadline either in person or mail, you may only vote by a provisional ballot at your polling place.

Q: What about absentee ballots? Do they still exist?

A: Yes. They do exist but they provide the same function as a mail-in ballot. The only difference is absentee voters must list a reason to why they will not be able to vote in person.
